Buncheong Bottle Medium Neck
Buncheong is one of the most traditional techniques employed in Korean art. Applied on stoneware, it is characterised by an earthen colour. Decorations can be either made with white slip or iron. Here is an exquisite bottle, H29xD14cm.
Artist IntroductionShin Sangho, born in the 1940’s in South Korea, is Professor Emeritus of fine Arts at Hong-ik University, where he graduated from a BFA and MFA course. Today, artist Shin is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics, works as a curator and artist, and exhibited his works across Europe, UK, USA and Asia. Some of his works are part of prestigious permanent collections around the world, such as Victoria and Albert Museum and British Museum in London. His outstanding buncheong pieces often feature Chrysanthemum flower, which is imbued with symbolic value of Confucian origin. The artist collaborates with fellow artist and Hong-ik University alumni Yoo Byungho.
