Born in Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do in 1964, Park studied lacquer from Lee Eui-sik in his teenage years, before moving to Namwon in 1992 to pursue a career in lacquer production. He struggled to find opportunities until studying under Korean Important Intangible Cultural Property No.113 of Lacquer Art, Jeong Soo-hwa in 1996 which led to his breakthrough. Park was later appointed as Intangible Cultural property No.13 of Lacquer Art. He is now a professor at Silla University in Korea.
