Buncheong is one of the most traditional techniques employed in Korean art. Applied on stoneware, it is characterised by an earthen colour. Decorations can be either made with white slip or iron. Here is an exquisite faceted jar with stamped floral decorations. Chrysanthemum flowers are a common natural element across Korean art, with deep symbolic value originating in Confucianism.     Ji Suntak, who passed away in 1993, is one of the most acclaimed and accomplished Korean ceramic artists of all times. A talented potter and painter, artist Ji has been appointed National Treasure and produced pieces of exquisite quality and superb elegance, firing his works in a traditional wood-fire kiln. One of the Ceramic Masters of Icheon City in South Korea, the artist worked with stoneware and porcelain, leaving behind his legacy for years to come.
