Traces of Time, a solo exhibition by Lee Chang-soo, is an ongoing exploration of visual language through the expansion of dots and lines, ultimately forming complete images that evoke emotion, memory, and transformation. These visual traces serve as records of the artist’s inner journey, inviting viewers to connect with his process and perspective.

The lineup of artworks is the result of sustained effort and long-term experimentation, marked by a pursuit of completeness and depth. Inspired by the rich contrasts of urban environments, vibrant city lights and quiet streets, waves reflected in windows, and a convergence of Eastern and Western sensibilities, the pieces offer a complex visual dialogue.

Lee approaches colour, line, and shape with a fresh perspective. The flow and trace of dots and lines become vessels for emotional expression, while the selection and composition of colours reflect psychological shifts and emotional nuance. These elements create a dynamic tension and harmony through their inherent energy and materiality.

Through this visual journey, the artist explores the evolving relationship between tradition and modernity, change and continuity, raising essential questions about the role and direction of art in our time.
